Saturday 6/30 - Western Dressage Clinic 9-5pm

Western Dressage is defined as training and developing the Western rider and horse to improve themselves as individuals and as partners through the use and discipline of dressage. By using classical Dressage principles the Western Dressage rider improves cadence, balance and carriage of the horse. The Western Dressage horse becomes more supple and flexible as it moves up the levels of Western Dressage working more off its hindquarters allowing for increasing lightness of the forehand and encouraging a natural head carriage.

Debbie Murphy, one of Babcock Hill's instructors, is well versed in Dressage and has more recently become very interested in Western Dressage as some of her students want to participate in this fast growing, fun and friendly, discipline. Deb is also a USDF Associate Instructor and Centered Riding® Instructor Level ll.

The clinic will focus on exploring whatever the participants want to know about Western Dressage, whether it be the various gaits, how to ride the various gaits, equipment, and Dressage figures. Each participant will also get to practice ride portions of tests to try it out, if desired. Groups will be made up of participants at the Introductory level, Basic level, and the Level 1. It is perfectly OK if you do not know what level you and your horse are yet. Debbie will help you figure it out prior to the clinic.

The fees for the clinic are $100 for the day. If you need a school horse it is an additional $35. $25 to audit. Lunch, Pizza, will be provided.

Please contact Debbie at DeborahNMurphy@gmail.com or by phone or text at 860-490-3773 or Dawn at naturalhorse80@yahoo.com or 860-985-7611 for more information or to sign up for the clinic.

ABOUT CENTERED RIDING

Centered Riding founder, Sally Swift, developed the principles of Centered Riding (Breathing, Soft Eyes, Centering, Building Blocks, and Grounding), using functional anatomy, imagery, horse and rider biomechanics, and elements from the martial arts as tools to improve the balance and effectiveness of the rider.

"The ultimate goal of Centered Riding is not to be a discipline unto itself. It must go forward in its purest and least complicated form so that it may be integrated into all disciplines of riding."   Sally Swift

Whatever your discipline, Centered Riding enhances it! Come join us for this fun clinic. Deborah is VERY positive, and has tons of patience, believing that the journey of progress, in riding and training should be fun and rewarding for all participants.
